The more I write and the more you read you’ll hear me discuss my
love for the Windy City. Chicago is a great town for anyone young, or anyone
young at heart for that matter. My favorite thing to do, during my brief
habitation there, was go to dinner with my girlfriends.
We had so many options, sleek and sophisticated bars, brunch cafes, dessert
bars or a place to go and just get rowdy. We had the best times trying new
eats, gossiping about our work friends no one else knew, drinking cocktail
after cocktail and just enjoying each other’s company. Whoever said a good
friendship is made over sharing food is one wise person.
In honor of Chicago and Chicago’s Restaurant Week (which started yesterday!!), I decided to share with you my favorite restaurants of Salt Lake
City. I really haven’t lived in the city very long, but I think I have done
a good job of sampling what the city has to offer on the food front. Luckily, I
work with some self-described “food snobs” who have quickly introduced me to
the city’s best kept secrets. Below are a few of my favorites!
There is a place on the campus of my college, the Pine Club,
that is a Dayton tradition. They only accepted cash, checks or you could start
a tab. Well all of the parents had to start tabs, because really, who doesn’t
accept credit? My friends and I used to go on a random week night and rack up a
seventy dollar steak and bar tab, courtesy of our parents. You never wanted to
be on the receiving end of a phone call when the Pineclub sent there invoices.
Why did we go through the trouble of being screamed at for forty-five minutes?
Because this was the best steak in America, no joke.
Timbermine is the first restaurant I had ever been to in Utah
and it instantly topped Pineclub for the best steakhouse in the country. I am a
big fan of steak and I definitely can say I have tested out the best steakhouses
in many, many states. Timbermine has the best prime rib I have ever tasted and
the ambiance of the place is so cute. The restaurant is located in Ogden and is
designed to resemble the old mines of the state. Each table is nestled away and
you get real quality time with your loved one. Each meal there is a wonderful
experience I am willing to travel about thirty minutes to get there each time.
Great lunch place! I went here once on a whim and now I’m
hooked. The lady who works the counter is so friendly and welcoming that to see
her on a daily basis is enough to go back. I’ve only had their tuna sandwich
and chicken salad but both were to die for. If you get the lunch special you
also receive a dessert. The rice krispy treat is to die for and enough to make
me feel like a kid again!
The most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. I also love this
place because the owner is an Ohio native, buckeye state watttttup! What I also
like about this place is that it is very conscience about providing options for
everyone. The gluten free menu they offer has a wide variety of options, you
cannot go wrong with any choice! It is a little on the pricey side but for an
organic, gluten free menu with the views offered (and if you go on the right
night, live music!) it is worth the price. This place doesn’t only offer a
great menu, it is a chance to get away from everyday life and enjoy the company
of the one you’re with.
This chic restaurant is great for a date night. The atmosphere
and the food makes me feel like I’m eating in a restaurant in the Gold Coast
neighborhood of Chicago. I am a sucker for lamb meat and this place seriously
knows how to make it. I highly recommend this place for any night out on the
town.
A Salt Lake City favorite, am I right?? I really enjoy trying
the different beer that comes from Squatter’s brewery. My first time there I
went at lunch time and it was such a great atmosphere. It was noisy, crowded
and made you feel like you were in the middle of a very lively gang. The staff
is wonderful too, you can tell they enjoy what they do and are happy to serve
you! My recommendation for a Squatters run is the meatloaf and onion rings or
the pulled pork sandwich. Delish!
Let’s be honest, no meal is complete without a smokin’ outfit.
No matter where you go, there’s no excuse for poor clothes! Take your honey
out and look good doing it.
LOVE!
